From 13-14th March 2019, the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) held its annual Energy Access Investment Forum in Abidjan/Côte d’Ivoire. 2019’s edition was co-organised by the African Development Bank, and the new programme GET.invest (formerly RECP).
The Forum, supported by Club-ER, ECREEE and UNIDO, brought together public, private and other stakeholders with the goal to boost clean energy access globally and in particular in Africa, where 588 million people still lack electricity. To intensify the exchange with players from and outside Africa, ARE has also held its Annual General Meeting in conjunction with the Forum the day before.
Building on the success of previous editions, the event showcased the latest off-grid political and funding initiatives, created room for the discussion of trends and innovations, and built win-win partnerships through matchmaking.
