During the African Utility Week 2017 (16-18 May 2017), the Small Hydropower Chapter of the European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF) organised a hydropower workshop in conjunction with a matchmaking event organised by Business beyond Border (BBB).
EREF’s Events were organised in cooperation with the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP), a multi-donor programme that supports the development of markets for renewable energy in Africa, and Business beyond Border (BBB), an initiative which aims at supporting businesses and clusters when attending international trade fairs.
About EREF’s hydropower workshop
The hydropower workshop discussed, analysed and mapped solutions to the challenges to financing small and medium hydropower plants in Africa. It aimed to create opportunities for partnership and project development by bringing together leading project developers and key financing institutions. Selected case studies were presented, and a panel of top experts elucidated and discussed key issues facing the sector.
The panel took place on Thursday, 18 May 2017, from 11am to 3pm, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
About BBB’s matchmaking event
Thanks to the collaboration with EREF, the BBB Matchmaking Event allowed European and African project developers and investors in hydropower plants to meet potential business partners and to operate in Africa.
The BBB Matchmaking Event created an effective exchange of opportunities for project developers, investors, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Clusters actively engaged within the field of power, water and waste utilities industry, to meet potential business partners and to operate internationally.
About the African Utility Week 2017
The 17th annual African Utility Week (AUW) was the only global meeting place, conference and trade exhibition for African power and water utility professionals. AUW offered a unique networking opportunity for engineers, stakeholders and solution providers alike.
The 3-day exhibition allowed plenty of engagement time between delegates, visitors and exhibitors. An interactive exhibition floor with product demonstrations, workshops, cocktail functions, free refreshments and meeting lounges created business opportunities for the attendees.
