AEBIOM, supported by the RECP, organized the “Africa-EU Bioenergy B2B Forum” in the context of the “European Bioenergy Future” conference (EBF). The workshop took place on 16 November 2016 and was one out of three thematic workshops taking place before the main plenary program.
The matchmaking workshop was opened by AEBIOM’s Secretary General Jean-Marc Jossart, followed by a presentation of Thierry Bertouille, Programme Manager of the European Commission’s DG DEVCO, introducing various EU support instruments to the audience. Furthermore, a brief presentation of the RECP was given by its Team Leader Michael Franz, followed by a contribution from David Frykerås, who shared experiences and project examples of his company Againity.
The initial presentations were followed by a three-hour matchmaking block, which provided a platform for bioenergy entrepreneurs from Africa and Europe, financiers, service providers, and other key stakeholders to meet and discuss potential business opportunities.
The event drew mainly from AEBIOM’s membership and the participants of the main EBF conference, plus 10 African entrepreneurs sponsored by RECP. The event finished with a networking dinner, where discussions about joint business opportunities continued.
