REACT 2.0 Kenya – Milestone-Based Grants (MGB)

Description
The REACT 2.0 Kenya is a four-year initiative implemented by the AECF in Kenya and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The programme offers milestone-based grants (MGB) to support early stage companies in Kenya operating in the energy access sector. Eligible companies include last-mile distributors, manufacturers and e-waste management companies. The grants target earlier-stage technologies and innovative solutions that require significant upfront investments and are not sufficiently proven to attract more commercial capital. A financial contribution from the applicant is required, either in cash or a combination of cash and/or ‘in kind’ provided the in-kind contribution does not exceed 25% of the overall contribution.

AECF is a member of 2X Global. Applicants that meet or exceed the 2X criteria are especially encouraged to apply:
- 51% women ownership or the business is founded by a woman
- 30% of senior leadership are women or 30% of the board or investment committee are women
- 30-50% of the applicant's workforce are women (depending on sector), with quality employment conditions in place
- Applicant's product(s) or service(s) specifically or disproportionately benefit women
