Africa Energy Indaba 2026
The Africa Energy Indaba 2026, hosted by the Department of Electricity and Energy of the Republic of South Africa with the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD) as a strategic partner, will take place in Cape Town, South Africa. Under the theme “Igniting the Power Revolution“, this 18th edition of the continent’s premier energy conference and exhibition will explore critical discussions, solutions and debates addressing Africa’s urgent need for energy generation, investment and infrastructure development. The event brings together policymakers, utilities, financiers, investors, developers and innovators to drive sustainable growth and partnerships across Africa’s energy sector.

GET.invest contributions at AEI 2026
Within the framework of ENGAGE (Accelerating the Energy Transition in Africa), GET.invest will actively contribute to strategic dialogue and investment-oriented sessions during the Indaba week:
- Tuesday, 3 March (11:15-12:30 SAST) – Plenary panel 1. GET.invest supports AUDA-NEPAD’s session “Planning to Bankability: What will finally unlock investment and private sector engagement in Africa’s power infrastructure?“, where high-level representatives will discuss pathways to make projects more bankable and attractive to private finance – an essential step for scaling infrasctructure across the continent.
- Wednesday, 4 March (9:00-17:00 SAST) – AfSEM-CMP Deep Dive Session. GET.invest Finance Catalyst Advisors Ad Dankers and Michael Feldner will moderate the session “Enhancing Africa’s pipeline of mature and bankable infrastructure projects” (11:30-15:00 SAST). The discussion will focus on advancing project pipelines toward investment readiness, bringing together developers, financiers and public stakeholders for practical exchanges.
Broader EU-Africa energy partnership engagements
Complementary engagements supported by GET.pro will take place during AEI 2026:
- The Secretariat of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) will work with AUDA-NEPAD across the three days in sessions focused on the African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM) and the Continental Power Systems Master Plan (CMP). The AEEP will also moderate the plenary on 3 March and support a closed-door ministerial energy lunch centred on implementing the Africa Ten-Year Infrastructure Investment Plan for cross-border interconnectivity.
- From our sister programme GET.transform, Benjamin Schober (Head of Advisory Services) will participate as a panelist in the IPP & PPA conference – an official side event of the Indaba week that explores the role of independent power producers and power purchase agreements in meeting Africa’s energy demand.
Africa Energy Indaba 2026 Exhibition
Alongside the annual conference, the AEI 2026 exhibition offers a relevant platform for energy stakeholders to showcase products, services and solutions to key decision-makers from across the African power and electricity industry.
Together with GET.transform and the AEEP, GET.invest will be present at the exhibition under the banner of ENGAGE, a technical cooperation initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ. The project supports African partners in structuring, financing and scaling clean energy projects through enhanced project preparation, bankability frameworks and investment-oriented policy dialogue.
