Description
Gridworks develops and invests in Africa’s electricity networks. It provides long-term capital to transmission, distribution and distributed renewable energy businesses, both on and off-grid. A partner to governments, utilities, and companies in the energy sector, Gridworks aims to connect Africa’s people and its businesses to clean, reliable and affordable power. Owned and funded by the UK government, Gridworks is a subsidiary of British International Investment, the UK’s development finance institution. Gridworks builds financially sustainable companies that can deliver power to businesses and households across the continent. A desire to create lasting impact underpins its focus on the financial viability of utilities, on identifying replicable business models and on mobilising private capital.
