GET.invest at EU-Kenya and EU-Tanzania Business Forums 2023

17 February 2023 | As part of the Africa-EU Green Energy Initiative, GET.invest has been mandated to serve as the Team Europe One Stop Shop (OSS), the access point for information about facilitated access to support and financing instruments for green energy in Africa. In its role as implementer of the OSS, GET.invest will participate in the inaugural EU Business Forums happening in Kenya and Tanzania during February 2023. Both events aim at providing opportunities for businesses to interact with other business (B2B), directly engage with Ministers and decision makers in selected priority sectors (B2G), and discuss with financial institutions regarding project bankability, finance and investment support (B2F).

2023 EU-Kenya Business Forum

On 21 and 22 February, the European Union Delegation to Kenya will host the first EU-Kenya Business Forum, jointly organised by the EU and its Member States in partnership with the European Business Council and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). Under the motto “Connected Green”, the Forum’s goal is to foster European trade and investment in Kenya by highlighting economic opportunities and potential whilst discussing areas for improvement.

The Forum will kick off on 21 February with a hybrid opening ceremony that will showcase the role of Kenya as a destination for EU investments and exports, followed by a plenary session on strengthening EU-Kenya business opportunities and partnerships. On the second day, GET.invest Team Leader Michael Franz will be a panellist in a parallel session on sustainable finance for investments and business that will look into the financial instruments available in Kenya.

2023 EU-Tanzania Business Forum

Scheduled back-to-back, the first EU-Tanzania Business Forum will tap into Tanzania’s investment opportunities on 23 and 24 February. Hosted by the European Union Delegation to Tanzania, the Forum aims at offering tools for private investment and private sector development while providing a platform for effective dialogue to further improve the business environment by facilitating discussions among peers, government officials and political leaders of both Tanzania and Europe, in view of catalysing new partnerships.

After an introductory panel on 23 February on the Global Gateway – a new European strategy to boost smart, clean and secure links in the digital, energy and transport sectors – the programme will continue with a high-level opening ceremony with eminent presence of the Tanzanian government and EU representatives. Once again, participants will have the chance to meet our Team Leader as well as one GET.invest Finance Catalyst advisor to discuss financing options for renewable energy.

GET.invest funding opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa

Although access to these events is only by invitation, the opening session and key segments of the Forums will be live streamed via the social media platforms of the respective EU Delegation.
