Investment Readiness Support to Unlock Private Sector Capital

Nigeria
09.07.2026 - 09.07.2026

As part of a broader effort to strengthen climate finance and support implementation of Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), the NDC Partnership launched the ‘project checklist pilot programme’ in October 2024. The pilot was designed to help governments, project developers and investors systematically organise and present NDC-aligned projects in a standardised manner, improving investment readiness and access to financing.

As of April 2026, the pilot has supported the development of a deal book featuring 48 investment-ready projects and connected them with potential financiers. This initiative is helping strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to mobilise technical and financial support to advance its NDC commitments. The deal book is also a valuable resource for partners, including GET.invest.

Webinar objectives

The webinar aims to strengthen and accelerate the pipeline of bankable, climate-aligned projects emerging from the Nigeria ‘project checklist pilot programme’, with a particular focus on initiatives in the energy and transport sectors. It will highlight how GET.invest’s Finance Access Advisory enhances investment readiness and facilitates access to finance.

Specific objectives include:

  • Enhance stakeholder understanding of the Nigeria checklist pilot – its methodology, achievements to date, and unmet needs in project preparation and financing.
  • Introduce GET.invest’s Finance Access Advisory services and outline pathways through which clean energy and transport initiatives under the Nigeria Checklist Project and beyond can access tailored advisory and investment readiness support to meet investor requirements and mobilise private capital.
  • Provide a strategic opportunity to mobilise expertise, share lessons learned from the Nigeria checklist pilot and catalyse deeper engagement between project developers and finance providers.
  • Facilitate direct interaction between project proponents, financial advisory experts and potential financiers to discuss co-creation and support opportunities.
  • Generate actionable outcomes in terms of next steps for project engagement with GET.invest and other stakeholders, to transform eligible initiatives arising from the Nigeria checklist pilot programme into investment-ready opportunities.

The webinar will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including climate project developers from the project checklist process, technical partners from the NDC Partnership and GET.invest, representatives from development finance institutions (DFIs) and private investors, officials from the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) and other entities involved in the pilot, as well as federal and state-level stakeholders working on climate finance and energy transition planning.

The event is organised by the NDC Partnership Support Unit, the Nigerian National Council on Climate Change and GET.invest NigeriaTo register for the webinar, click here.
