On September 21st 2016, AEBIOM held its first webinar in collaboration with the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP) focused on solid biomass opportunities in West Africa. The webinar was supported by ProPellets Austria and moderated by its Exective Director and Board Member of the European Pellet Council (EPC), Christian Rakos.
The webinar brought together European companies as well as academia and policy makers. Alexander Huppertz, as the Project Manager for the RECP, provided an overview of the RECP and its services, including its Finance Catalyst.
To provide further insight in the region of West Africa and its bioenergy potential, Godwin Eni Aigbokhan, as Renewable Energy Market Advisor of the National Competitiveness Council of Nigeria and Executive Secretary for Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN), gave an overview of the energy situation in Nigeria as well as a thorough explanation of its challenges and opportunities for bioenergy.
A third presentation was given by Aniche Phil Ebosie, the Pellet Project Developer for Eongratis Ltd., who presented the company’s current activities and discussed key challenges and what Nigeria has to offer for bioenergy business players. He also discussed what he can offer his clients and possible investors.
The final speaker was Osuma Bukunmi, the Finance Manager for Ebony Agro Industries Ltd., who focused his presentation on the company’s current production and future plans. He gave a comprehensive explanation of the process of making energy from rice husks, illustrating through diagrams and photos the benefits of rice husk waste for energy and what he can offer potential financiers and partners.
