Description
The Embedded Generation Investment Programme (EGIP) is a collaboration between the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the DBSA. The programme supports the implementation of grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind embedded generation projects developed by independent power producers (IPPs) in South Africa. The EGIP contributes long-term subordinated debt and concessional equity towards Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment funding. EGIP’s subordinated debt and concessional equity aims to increase the participation and ownership of local communities and small, medium and micro enterprises in renewable energy projects.
