Bernardo Ferreira de Sousa

Bernardo Ferreira de Sousa is an access-to-finance and private sector development specialist with more than 13 years of experience supporting clean energy businesses across sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. He has a strong track record of helping early- and growth-stage companies become investment ready and raise capital, and specialises in fundraising strategy, business planning and investor negotiations across grant, debt and equity instruments, as well as ESG assessments and investment due diligence.

Since 2023, Bernardo has served as Senior Expert and Team Leader for the GET.invest Finance Readiness Support, coordinating a team of consultants that provides business development and transaction advisory to locally owned clean energy companies. He is also Director and Senior Business Consultant at Advance Consulting, and has worked with development organisations such as IECD in Côte d’Ivoire and Geres in Myanmar.

Bernardo holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon) and an MSc in Sustainable Development from HEC Paris. He is fluent in English, French and Portuguese and is based in Maputo, Mozambique.
